Happy International Women’s Day!
In celebration of this special month, we will be spotlighting the diverse, ambitious and innovative women of Ikigai and the incredible initiatives they’ve started.
For our first feature, we spoke with the women of Book Bunk, Angela Wachuka and Wanjiru Koinange. The ambitious pair are on a mission to circulate stories and support literacy by restoring existing public libraries and installing new ones in public spaces in Nairobi.
How are you innovating and changing the world around you?
We’re redefining what public libraries mean to the residents of our fine city. We see them as more than repositories and imagine them as centers of public art and community. Our formation as an entity is inspired by this core belief – that our shared public spaces are more essential than ever to our collective Kenyan imagination.
How does the Ikigai space and community help you to accomplish your mission?
Most (if not all) the decisions that have formed our organization
